Innaway

Born out of the kindling of numerous and varying influences, ranging from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to Tortoise and Air, INNAWAY is a grouping of talented and creative musicians who together sound like a cohesive unit working towards a common goal. The band’s ambient sound is delicately layered with guitar rock sensibilities, resulting in a collection of songs that are both eerily relaxed and starkly dynamic, like a mushroom-fueled stroll from dusk to eve.

Within their first three months as a band, they crafted and recorded six songs and began to organize their first live performances. After their very first performance, given before an intimate audience at a friend's house, INNAWAY took to the stage at The Tiki Bar, a typically sleazy meat market in Costa Mesa and quickly drew attention to themselves with a style of music that was both foreign and intriguing to the crowd.

The audience reaction was immensely positive and in the weeks to follow INNAWAY was approached by several other bands and venues regarding future bookings. Based on the strength of these first few performances, INNAWAY became the resident band at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, where they built a large following and impressed club owners by regularly bringing in large crowds on normally slow Monday nights. INNAWAY are most in their element when playing live, allowing each evening's individuality to shape the performance. Their on-stage success prompted them to seek venues outside of Orange County in an attempt to broaden their fan base and they soon were playing shows in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and as far north as San Francisco.

Most recently the band has opened up for notable bands like Pinback, Blonde Redhead, Dios and the French Kicks.

INNAWAY's debut LP was self-produced and recorded in their homemade studio in Southern California. The tracks were then passed to well-respected multi-instrumentalist and engineer, John McEntire, to be mixed at his studio in Chicago. The heavily sought-out producer has worked with such indie luminaries as Sea and Cake, Tortoise, and Stereolab. The result is an expansive, beautiful, mood-setting body of work that is sure to get people excited about this new band.

INNAWAY's self-titled debut LP will be released on June 14, 2005. Tour dates are being arranged for early summer and beyond. In the meantime, feast on the cd single for "Rise" which is available April 6.

“Innaway soars with a new reading of Pink Floyd’s psychedelia, Neil Young’s dour humble pie and Led Zeppelin’s hippie boogie.” The OC Weekly

“self-titled debut reminds me in a weird way of Radiohead and The Flaming Lips, even though it doesn’t sound much like either band.” Avoid Peril
