The Hives Tour, Release New Album Boisterous Swedes, the Hives, have announced plans for a new album and U.S. tour starting July 20. The initial show, in Washington D.C., will coincide with the release of their still untitled new album, set for release on the same day. Leading up to the tour, the Hives will play several European festivals and individual shows beginning on June 3 in London. On June 12 the band will play the KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, CA. Continuing on, the Hives will follow their final U.S. show on August 4 in San Diego by flying to Japan for the Aug. 7/8 Summer Sonic Festival. Fellow Swedes, Sahara Hotnights, as well as the Memphis-based Reigning Sound will open during the North American tour. For fans of the band, the news is exciting to say the least. Nearly four years have passed since their last album of new material, Veni, Vidi, Vicious, originally released in 2000. Willing their way to success, the Hives released Your New Favorite Band in 2002 which compiled songs from "veni..." and their 1997 release Barely Legal,.
