Tom Waits To Appear on CBS Late Show
by Ellen Houlihan | 00.00.0000

Tom Waits will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman on September 28 to promote his forthcoming album Real Gone due October 5 on Epitaph's Anti-Records. To celebrate, Waits will perform the evening of the release date at the Orpheum in Vancouver, BC.

Real Gone is Waits' first studio album since his 2002 concept releases, Blood Money and Alice, and features various styles, including hip-hop on the track "To of the Hill" and urban and rural blues on "Real Gone," although his trademark piano is missing.

Waits wrote and produced all 15 tracks with wife and longtime collaborator, Kathleen Brennan, and welcomed his son, Casey Waits, to fill in on guitar. Waits also invited the following musicians to contribute: Larry Taylor (guitar/bass), Marc Ribot (guitar), Primus' Les Claypool (bass), Brian "Brain" Mantia(drums) and Shotgun Messiahs' Harry Cody(guitar/banjo).

Real Gone also features the satirical, funky "Metropolitan Guide" and the rockin' "Sins of the Father." The politically-charged "Day After Tomorrow" was included on the Future Soundtrack of America benefit album released on August 10 via Barsuk Records.
