Echo and The Bunnymen Tour Siberia In US Echo and the Bunnymen, the brooding rock band that helped define the post punk sound of the 80's, are back with a new widely acclaimed new album, Siberia (Cooking Vinyl US) and poised to kick off a US tour on November 18th in Washington D.C. Siberia reunites Bunnymen Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant with veteran producer Hugh Jones. The reunited team has produced a record that exudes the classic Echo and the Bunnymen feel with a clear musical glance forward. With bands such as Interpol and The Killers bringing the 80's sounds into the consciousness of the 20 somethings, a new generation of music fans are discovering and connecting to the Bunnymen and Siberia. Even Chris Martin from Coldplay gives props to Echo and the Bunnymen as major influencers of today's musical scene. McCulloch responds with his signature sarcasm, "So many people have cited us as this inspirational band. If we are that then I wanna make an album that these people can't copy for another twenty years. As much as I want to pass the torch, no one's takin' it off me 'til I'm dead." McCulloch acknowledges the Bunnymen's unusual staying power. "If Picasso was around today, he would have been dropped before he got to his oblong period," quips the ever prescient McCulloch over a beer in a local Liverpool pub. "I am just happy if it all doesn't blow up."
