Power-pop Heroes Ozma Reunite Weezer's back on the magazine covers, The Rentals are coming back... it's a veritable 90's power-pop flashback, which sets the scene perfectly for the re-emergence of the indie-pop wunderkinds, Ozma. With Rivers Cuomo admitting things like this band are "beating [him] at [his] own game," you know they've got the chops. The band slowed things down (unfortunately to a halt) after recording, releasing and touring their third studio album, 2002's Spending Time At The Borderline. With a few sideprojects (Yes Dear, The Elected) and one of the band's main songwriters Daniel Brummel moving to NYC for a stint now behind them, the band have relaxed, refreshed--and most importantly--reformed. Here's the official statement from Ozma: "WE: Star Wick, Ryen Slegr, Jose Galvez, and Daniel Brummel, do hereby declare our full and true intention to reform, reunite, and otherwise reanimate the rock group OZMA. Manning the drum kit for this incarnation of OZMA will be Kenn Shane, formerly of Addison. After rehearsing and working on new material since September 2005, we will play our first reunited concert on Sunday, March 12th 2006 at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA. Tickets to this concert will be made available on January 14th, 2006. Announcements regarding future OZMA releases and tours will henceforth be made at our official website OzmaOnline.com. Ryen, Daniel, Star, Kenn & Jose" Check out the band's MySpace page for songs and more info. | ![]() |
