The Shys Drop "Gun", Ready To Release Debut After an abrupt (but streamlining) name change, a blitzkreig 2 week recording session and an impending US tour LA's own equal parts sex and sleaze dancehall quartet The Shys (formerly The Gun Shys) are nearing completion of their debut full-length album, tentatively titled Rise To The Occassion, with producer Dave Cobb (Rock n Roll Soldiers, The Years). With an average age of 21, The Shys have already toured with the likes of The Redwalls and The Killers and have paved the West Coast with their hybrid blend of classic American and British rock & roll. Equal chucks of Stooges & Stones: The Rolling Stones, Stone Roses, Sly and The Family... fight for melodic democracy and soulful sensibility. Their reputation as a stylish live band with genuine shake-appeal is about to be introduced nationwide. Lead singer and guitarist (and general indie dreamboat) Kyle Krone has exclusively told Filter that the album, "has a punk rock edge...it clocks in at about 35 minutes" which belnds in with their love of 60's and 70's classic pop sound. Starting March 1, The Shys will tour the nation supporting The Subways. This will be the first coast-to-coast tour for both bands. The Shys are: Kyle Krone -- vocals/guitar, Alex Kweskin -- keyboards, Chris Wulff -- bass, Mike Walker -- drums.
