Architecture In Helsinki, Do the Whirlwind Audio Like a wackier version of Montreal's Arcade Fire, eight-piece Australian collective Architecture in Helsinki has crafted a dynamic album of energetic, orchestral indie pop with instruments ranging from trombone to tuba to sitar on In Case We Die (out now on Bar/None Records). They go the dance route on their first single "Do the Whirlwind," which begins with the kind of cheesy synths, cow bell beat and wind chimes that would easily fit in an '80s mix between any Madonna and Cyndi Lauper (In a good way. Trust us.) before evolving into a delicate trumpet breakdown and finishing with a saxophone serenade. After hopping off a plane just in time to play an in-store @ Amoeba in Hollywood on May 20, the Aussies are bringing their charmingly loose stage production to as many states as they can on a cross-country tour that will end up where it began on June 27. |Do the Whirlwind audio| | ![]() |
