Bowie Offers Fans Remix Contest
by Chi | 00.00.0000

Fans of Bowie will get the ultimate hands-on experience—a “mash-up” remix contest involving his latest studio release, Reality. The contest kicks off April 8 and will run for six weeks. At the end of each weekly period, an entry is selected by public voters and submitted for grand prize consideration. The process concludes with a panel of judges--which includes Bowie and professional “masher” Mark Vidler--determining which of the remaining entries will be awarded with the grand prize.

The winner will receive a 2004 Audi TT Coupe, while the runner-up takes home a complete set of Sony Media Software titles, which includes ACID Pro 4 and Vegas +DVD Production Suite. Third prize is a Sony Vaio Z1 laptop. Other electronic prizes will also be awarded to the weekly winners. Potential contestants can go to NeverFollow.com, where they will be able to download one-minute versions of the tracks and then--using a free version of ACID Express--begin remixing. Entries for the contest will be accepted until May 18.

Audi of America is currently showing a television commercial which plays a “mash-up” of Bowie’s “Rebel Never Gets Old,” from the Realityalbum. The remixed single version will be released sometime during the week of April 12. At the moment, Bowie’s “A Reality Tour” is still heating up arenas and amphitheatres in North America.
