Cure Members Sacked!
by Staff | 00.00.0000

No one is safe!

The Cure headmaster Robert Smith has gotten quite liberal with his front-man powers and has let some of his longest friends and Cure main players go. Longtime keyboardist Roger O'Donnell, Perry Bamonte, guitarist (one-time Cure roadie) and Daryl Bamonte, long time Cure manager are no longer part of the band.

There has been speculation as to how they were let go. With a very personal and somewhat upset message from Roger on his official website:

"As of Tuesday this week I am no longer a member of The Cure I have prepared an official statement which will be released when timely. It was sad to find out after nearly 20 years the way I did but then I should have expected no less or more. I will try and reply to every email of support I receive but if I don't get to yours, THANK YOU. The fans have always been very important to me and will remain so. I look forward to seeing as many of you as I can when I tour my album later this year, hopefully in a more relaxed and happy atmosphere than has surrounded The Cure these last couple of years."

On the flip side of this darkly-coiffed coin, The Cure have confirmed several summer festival dates. Looks like Robert wil be playing a lot of solos. The band now are simply a 3-piece: Robert Smith, Simon Gallup (original bassist), and Jason Cooper (drummer since 1996).

In other Cure news, Robert has hinted at new songs and another Cure album coming our way. Smith has also stated that he wants to bring the Curiosa festival out to the UK next year.
